Cody James® Boots, Jeans, Hats, & Wallet: Quality Handcrafted Western Wear Since 1879

For over 140 years, Cody James® has been handcrafting quality western wear that brings authentic American style and comfort to customers around the world. Our story began in 1879, when our founder James Cody set up a small boot shop in Texas. Using techniques passed down through generations and an uncompromising commitment to quality, James soon earned a reputation for making some of the finest boots around.

Word spread, and before long cowboys and ranchers throughout the West were seeking out those durable, comfortable Cody boots. As the business grew, so did the product line. We began making hats, belts, wallets and other accessories to complete the Cody James® western look. In the 1950s we expanded into jeans and casual shirts, which quickly became cowboy wardrobe staples.

Today, Cody James® offers a full line of western wear essentials for men, women and kids. While our collection has grown, our traditional roots and American values remain at the core of our brand. Every Cody James® product is handcrafted with care and attention to detail, using designs and techniques that have been passed down through generations.

Our jeans are made from premium denim with just the right amount of flex and stretch for ease of movement. Shirts and outerwear feature quality fabrics and smart design details like contrast yokes and snaps. Hats are crafted from 100% fur felt using traditional techniques for shape retention. And our belts, wallets and other accessories are made from fine leathers.

While our manufacturing has scaled over the decades, our quality standards remain unchanged. Every item is closely examined at multiple stages of production to ensure it meets our high standards before receiving the Cody James® brand.

Cody James® has always had deep Texas roots. Our corporate offices and distribution facilities are located right here in Fort Worth, along with our design studios. We work closely with manufacturing partners throughout Texas and the Southwestern US.

A Family Business

Cody James® has grown over 140 years, but remains a family-owned and operated company. The fourth and fifth generations of the Cody family continue our founder’s legacy.

The Cody family oversees every aspect of Cody James®, from reviewing new designs to evaluating production quality and meeting with retail partners. Family ownership allows us to maintain a hands-on approach and ensure the Cody James brand stays true to its roots.

We’re committed to continuing the Cody legacy by building a sustainable company that creates jobs and strengthens communities. Our corporate offices employ over 200 Texans. We work closely with our US manufacturing partners to ensure ethical treatment of workers.

Giving Back

Philanthropy has always been at the heart of Cody James®. Our founder James Cody donated land and resources to establish some of the first schools, churches and orphanages in his Texas community.

We continue that tradition today through partnerships with charitable organizations like Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the American Quarter Horse Foundation. A portion of sales goes to support children’s medical research and care, veterans programs, animal welfare and more.
