Cody James® has been handcrafting quality western wear since 1879. Our founder James Cody opened his first boot shop in Texas and soon gained a reputation for making some of the finest, most comfortable boots around.
Over the decades we’ve expanded our collection to offer all the essentials for classic American cowboy style. We now carry boots, hats, jeans, shirts, belts, wallets and more. But our commitment to quality craftsmanship and authentic heritage remains unchanged.
Every Cody James® product is meticulously made using techniques passed down through generations. Our leather boots feature full-grain uppers, leather linings, and hand-stitched detailing. Our felt cowboy hats maintain their shape for years. And our jeans and shirts boast premium fabrics with smart, western-inspired accents.

Cody James uses proven boot-making techniques like a leather lining, double welt construction, and a roper heel for stability. These all combine to make boots that feel broken-in and comfy as soon as you put them on.
Yes, their exotic collection features genuine leathers like ostrich, caiman belly, pirarucu fish skin, and more. Each skin is carefully inspected and graded before being turned into beautiful, heirloom-quality boots.
Absolutely! Their boots labeled as “Performance” or “Work” have comfort technology and often composite, steel or soft toes to protect your feet on the job. The durable construction holds up to heavy wear.
Cody James has always been handcrafted in Texas. Their corporate offices and distribution centers are located in Fort Worth. They partner with manufacturing facilities throughout Texas and the Southwestern US.
Boots start around $150 and go up to $500+ for exotic skins. But many classic leather styles are under $200. Hats, shirts and other gear are very affordable too.
Their boots tend to run true to size. But some do suggest sizing down if you’re between sizes. Trying them on in store is best to get the perfect fit.
Use a leather conditioner to keep the upper soft and moisturized. Allow boots to air dry fully between wears. Store with boot trees to maintain shape. And avoid exposing leather to excess dirt or liquids.

Their fur felt hats come in standard hat sizes from 6 3/4 up to 8 and are true-to-size. Make sure to measure your head to get the perfect fit. Their straw hats are often one-size-fits-most.
