Our Story
Emerald Sundae® was founded by sisters Emma and Sophie Green, two fashion enthusiasts who struggled to find cute and modest dresses they loved wearing. After years of searching for the perfect dress with no luck, they decided to create their own stylish dresses that catered to their modest tastes. The name “Emerald Sundae®” combines their love of emeralds with their shared obsession with ice cream sundaes!
After months of planning, sketching dresses and sourcing high-quality fabrics, the first Emerald Sundae® collection was born. The response was overwhelming, with our very first dress selling out in just 2 days! It was clear that Emma and Sophie had tapped into an underserved market of women looking for fashionable yet modest dresses.
Since then, Emerald Sundae® has gone from strength to strength. From our humble beginnings in Emma’s spare bedroom, we’ve grown into a successful e-commerce store shipping our signature dresses all across the USA and beyond. Our team has expanded to include talented seamstresses and customer care reps. But our mission remains the same – to help women look and feel confident in stylish, beautiful dresses.

Responsible Manufacturing
All Emerald Sundae® dresses are proudly made in ethical factories located close to our Los Angeles headquarters. We deeply value the talented people who help bring our dress designs to life each season.
We take care to work only with factories that provide:
- Safe, clean working environments
- Fair wages and reasonable hours for all workers
- No child or forced labor
- Responsible waste and water management practices
Our co-founder Sophie personally visits the factories before selecting them as partners. We then regularly audit working conditions and environmental policies to ensure standards are upheld over time. By manufacturing locally, we’re also able to reduce the carbon footprint of our supply chain.
We strongly believe that ethically made clothes empower the makers behind them. We’re committed to leaving a positive impact on everyone involved in crafting Emerald Sundae® dresses – from designers to factory workers.
Eco-Friendly Materials & Packaging
In keeping with our ethos of running a responsible business, we try to use sustainable materials in our dresses and packaging whenever feasible.
Many of our dresses are made from eco-fabrics like:
- Organic cotton – grown without toxic pesticides
- Tencel lyocell – made from sustainably harvested eucalyptus
- Recycled polyester – made from recycled plastic bottles
- Bamboo rayon – made from fast-growing bamboo that needs little water
We’ve also eliminated unnecessary plastic from our packaging. Each dress arrives in a reusable garment bag made of natural cotton canvas. Shipping materials like tape, boxes and mailers are bio-degradable and plastic-free.
Little touches like these allow us to reduce waste while preserving the beauty of our dresses from factory floor to your front door.
Giving Back
Philanthropy is woven into the fabric of Emerald Sundae®. We are deeply committed to using our business as a force for good.
A portion of each dress sale goes towards supporting women’s empowerment causes like Dress for Success, which provides professional attire and development tools to women in need.
We also partner with and donate to nonprofits that promote education for girls worldwide, like the Malala Fund. Access to education can be life-changing, and we’re proud to support these causes through our business.
On a local level, we regularly donate surplus fabric, dress samples and employee volunteer hours to help community charities. Our Los Angeles staff also assembles care packages with dresses, food and essentials for women in nearby homeless shelters.
