Countyline builds their log splitters to high standards, so with proper maintenance you can expect at least 10-15 years of reliable service. Key things are changing fluids/filters per the manual, inspecting hoses, and protecting the unit from weather when not in use.
It depends on the specific model, but in general Countyline splitters can handle logs up to 24 inches long and 18 inches in diameter. The higher tonnage models like the 40 ton have the most power to muscle through large diameter hardwood logs.
Most models have cycle times around 10-14 seconds. So you can split a cord of wood in an hour with ease. The two-stage pumps allow rapid extension and retraction. For even faster cycling, look at the models with the Kohler engines.
It's best to treat the gas with fuel stabilizer, then run the engine dry before storage. Leaving untreated gas over winter months can lead to varnish buildup in the carburetor and fuel system problems when restarting.
Countyline recommends using 10W AW32 hydraulic fluid for the log splitters. This oil protects against wear and tear, resists break down, and still flows well in cold weather use.
No, the chipper/shredders come fully assembled and ready to use straight from the box. Just add oil and gas. The only assembly is installing the chipper chute.
Cut logs and branches to 6 inches or less in diameter. Remove all nails, screws or other metal objects. Chip perpendicular to the grain for optimal performance. Avoid jamming too much material into the hopper at once.
You can, but storing it in a covered location will extend its lifespan. Be sure to maintain proper fluid levels and change the gas to avoid internal corrosion over winter.
The chipper blades can handle branches up to 3 inches in diameter. Any larger and you risk dulling or damaging the blades. Avoid running anything metal, rocks or dirt through them as well.
Inspect and sharpen the blades at least once per year, more often if chipping high volumes. Dull blades are less efficient and can lead to jamming. Follow the owners manual for proper blade removal and reinstallation.
